The requesting process

In this module we cover who can request information, how you can request information and who can assist you with the process.

If you want to use PAIA and request information, this course is the perfect starting point.

Everyone has a right of access to any information held by the state and any information held by another person that is required for the exercise or protection of rights.

The Promotion to Access to Information Act was enacted to give effect to the constitutional right of access to information. PAIA came into operation on 9 March 2001..

In terms of the Constitution and PAIA, all people in South Africa, including non-nationals, can request information from public and private bodies.

This course will not only assist you in understanding PAIA but also what the process is that you must follow to request information from public or private bodies. It also covers how the new POPI Act affects certain parts of PAIA.

The course is quick to complete, packed with all the needed information with graded questionnaires and a certificate of completion as proof of training and compliance.
